My husband and I met at a Jeep Wrangler meet and greet in Fiesta Island in 2017. At that time I had a two door white Wrangler that I had recently bought myself for my 27th birthday. Little did I know this would be how I’d meet my future husband! The Jeep Wrangler was my dream car. It was a way to have a toy for the desert and a daily driver. It was the first car I ever financed. I had saved up for months and headed car shopping on my birthday weekend. Fast forward three years and I was shopping for a mom car. Bye dream car! Or so I thought, I can’t say I don’t miss the Jeep but I’m happy with my mom car.

For a while I was in denial we needed a family car. My Jeep was almost paid off and my husband’s Jeep is paid off. I was looking forward to us not having car payments. But both of our Jeeps were lifted and one was a two door. I thought I could manage driving my husband’s 4 door Wrangler for a few years. Well lifting a baby and car seat in and out of a lifted Jeep at 5’1” became a problem fast. It also wasn’t safe!

Hannah was 4 months old when I admitted we needed a new car. I liked the BMW X3 and qualified for a special price from my husband’s company. My husband had talked about Tesla for a few years. We considered vehicle maintenance and gas mileage when comparing the price of the BMW X3 and Tesla Model 3.

The BMW X3 gets up to 25 miles in the city and 29 highway miles. The Tesla standard range plus gets 263 miles. The price range of both is close except our home electricity bill would bring the total cost of a Tesla lower than the BMW X3 plus gas.

With this cost comparison in mind we took a family trip to the Tesla showroom in Fashion Valley. I fell in love with the Model 3. What sold me was the safety ratings.

The Tesla Model 3 is a perfect combination of technology and affordable luxury under $50,000. We placed the order at the showroom August 1st.

We went with the Model 3 standard plus range, upgraded the wheels, chose white interior and exterior.

I know what you must be thinking, white interior with kids?! Yes!! We initially ordered the black interior because I felt the same way. That was until I came across an Instagram video of coffee spills on the white interior. We called and emailed right away to upgrade the interior to white. There’s also many videos on YouTube of people testing stain resistant white seats! Look it up!

The Tesla was ready for pickup late September. We waited patiently for approximately 8 weeks! My Jeep sold a month before and we shared a car for a whole month. That wasn’t much fun but the wait was worth it!

It’s been close to 2 months since we picked it up and I’m still as happy as the first day we got it. If you’re looking for a safe and cool mom car, this is it!
