I’ve been an Ion fan since my teens and ran to Sally’s when I heard they came out with their airstyler. I’ve been using the Dyson Airwrap 2-3 times weekly for a year. I love my Dyson and get so many compliments on my curls. I’ve been finding more affordable options for my community because of the Dyson Airwrap’s $600 price tag.
This review is my unbiased Ion Luxe Autowrap FlexStyler review from a Dyson Airwrap avid user and lover.
My Ion history
I’ve owned an Ion One Stroke flat iron since the beginning of my hair journey when I was 17-18. I’m in my 30’s now.
I only replaced it three times from wear and accidental breakage. I’ve tried other flat irons like the CHI and Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium that fried my hair, and I always went back to Ion.

I have also owned their conditioning hair dryer for a few years. It was light and made drying easy.

This brand isn’t famous on social media on Hairgram or Hairtok, but it should be! It has the best technology for healthier heat for an affordable price.

Concentrator
does what it’s supposed to no cons
You can achieve a blowout with the concentrator and round brush. I only used the concentrator to dry my hair and start the curls. With the length and thickness of my hair, I prefer to use my Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer Hot Air Brush. Many think this brush pulls your hair too much. It’s a user error. I see many video tutorials twisting and tugging full lengths around the brush and then getting it stuck. I’ll add a tutorial on this brush next.
Barrels
amazing, need longer barrels
I give it 4 stars because the barrels do not include longer-length hair. They are short like the original Dyson barrel lengths except without a buying option for longer barrels. The barrels are smooth and have the finish of a curling iron. The airflow at the lowest setting is strong. Even though the barrels are short, I can style my long hair because the hair catches so quickly that I bring the barrel up and down my hair, and a few seconds at the top and bottom of the hair section is enough for the hair to curl.

Ion
I’m no scientist, but based on user experience, my hair always feels the smoothest with Ion hair tools. The curls come out even softer and shinier with the Ion 4-in-1 Autowrap Airstyler than the Dyson Airwrap, and they hold longer too.` I trust their technology.
Diffuser
average
I like the diffuser; it was average. The Shark diffuser design did better. I prefer the Shark FlexStyle diffuser with deeper edges to hold the hair from sliding out. It does the job just with my length.
Bottom Line
The Ion Luxe 4-in-1 Autowrap Airstyler gives you amazing frizz-free curls that last longer than the Dyson Airwrap and the Shark FlexStyle. The price tag of $149 and the sale price of $129 is well worth the investment.
Many want or purchased the Dyson AirWrap because of the curl styling and were disappointed the hair falls into soft waves. The Ion 4-in-1 Autowrap Airstyler is a better option and for an affordable price.
