A little background on the house. We were San Diego house shopping during a competitive sellers market late 2019. After being out bid a few times we finally went into Escrow on our favorite one! The house has a nice layout but we wanted more of an open concept. What’s in right now.

As soon as we closed escrow we started demo on the kitchen to open up to the dining room. My husband, his uncle, and my father in law did all of the work. We’re fortunate my husband’s family is in the construction business and came together to help us out. I don’t regret the long nights and dust cleaning while expecting. This is the highlight and heart of the house.

The original kitchen

After what seemed like forever the kitchen started coming along.

During the process

Now fast forward a few months.

Recycled decor a few weeks ago

The dining area needed new art. This was all recycled decor from our apartment and an old table we sanded and stained.

I couldn’t figure out what to do to warm up the space. I wasn’t convinced with the white dining set after all. Nor with blue art. The search continued for the dining area. I came up with the idea of oversized pictures frames. I love oversized decor in the home. It adds a feel of luxury. It’s also less busy and a cleaner look. I searched everywhere online! I gave up and even tried searching craft stores to try and DIY. Nothing would come up for 30”x30”. I tried a few custom places but they couldn’t get the material in the size I wanted.

I thought you could find it all online. Well the SEO finally got it right when I came across custompictureframes.com on my Google search. I reached out to them and they customized my order exactly how I wanted! The frames arrived within a few days with beautiful prints. The wood frames are a black finish. I ordered their 30″x30″ Noir Classique frames with a single 8″ smooth white matt. The pictures are 13″x13″. I’m amazed at their customer service and quality. I went with the non-glare acrylic. It’s definitely worth the extra cost. I need to swap other frames because the glare doesn’t look good. We get a lot of sunlight with our bare high ceiling windows.

The packaging is top notch

I got to work quickly unboxing.

Here is the current project today. The ivory dining chairs have been delayed until tomorrow.

We are over the moon with our custom frame order and prints! The frames have added a special touch to our home.

I’m excited to share with you the discount code they kindly provided for me.

Below are the comparisons from then and now. We still need a rug. We’re going for a beige color to add warmth to the cool wall color and grey kitchen cabinets.

I will update pictures when the chairs arrive. I hope you enjoyed reading. Let me know in the comments what you think! Don’t forget to like this post and follow the blog for more!
