We recently visited the San Diego Zoo for Hannah’s first time. I hadn’t been in years! I was pleased at how organized the zoo was to keep everyone safe. Being a first time mom during a pandemic has been stressful! I delivered Hannah two weeks into lockdown when everyone was in panic mode. Supplies were scarce and fear was at an all time high. My family met Hannah through windows and we didn’t leave our house. Now with this said fast forward 6 months into the COVID pandemic and we visited the San Diego Zoo!
Parking was easy to find and was free! I was surprised it was free. We also received free entrance because we went with a friend who is a pass holder. I also didn’t know you could bring a free guest! Good to know since I was buying one for my husband and I and one for my mom but she will just be my free guest!
There was plenty of entry ways to keep guests 6 feet apart and everyone was required to wear a mask. There’s plenty of hand sanitizers throughout the park. Staff kept the park clean and well stocked.
Walking around was fun and we maintained 6 feet apart from people. It was busy but not crowded. We went on a Wednesday morning. It may be busier during the weekend. They limit the amount of visitors in the gift stores. We walked around for a few hours and left some animals to see for the next visit. Things felt the same from when I last visited minus the masks and sanitizing stations.
If you’re planning a day out with the family and want to visit a fun safe place, the San Diego Zoo is a great place to go!
